**Tuesday, March 25th is an early release day.
This week in reading we will be reading the fictional story Library Lion by Michelle Knudson. We will use this story to focus on identifying characters’ feelings through the clues the author gives us. The poster below focuses on three clues we will use to help determine how a character may be feeling.
We will also be learning about articles. We use three articles when talking about nouns. Check out the poster below for a few examples and rules for when we use each one.
We will be working on the phonics sounds aw/au as well.
This week in Math we will begin focusing on the basics of multiplication and division. Unfortunately there is not a Go! Math workbook that this unit corresponds with. We will start off with skip counting by numbers to help connect the concept of repeated addition to multiplication. For example 3 x 5 is the same thing as 3 groups of 5 or 5+5+5 which equals 15. We could also say that 5 x 3 is the same thing as 5 groups of 3 or 3+3+3+3+3 which also equals 15.
We will also represent multiplication problems through arrays, like the one below.
Thanks for stopping by! Check back next week for more updates on our learning!
