March 18 – 22

**There is no school Monday, March 18th due to a staff learning day.

**Tuesday, March 19th is an early release day.

This week in reading we will be reading the fictional story Rosie Revere, Engineer by Andrea Beaty. We will use this story to focus on describing character traits – both physical and personality traits. We will also focus on how characters change and develop based on the challenges they face.

We will also be learning about irregular past tense verbs. We know that normally we add -ed to the end of a verb to show it already happened. Sometimes there are irregular verbs that don’t follow the rules and completely change when they happen in the past. Check out the poster below for a few examples.

**Poster credit goes to Rooted in Reading by Amy Lemons and Katie King**

We will be working on the phonics sounds oi/oy as well.

This week in Math we will finishing up our unit on graphing and data. We will be focusing on asking and answering questions about different graphs. We will also be testing over this unit. Students will be tested over the following materials:

  • Answer questions about picture and bar graphs
  • Use data to make a picture and bar graph
  • Compare data using words less, more, least, and greatest

Thanks for stopping by! Check back next week for more updates on our learning!
