**Tuesday, February 5th is an early release day.
This week in reading we will be reading the fictional story Each Kindness by Jacqueline Woodson. Through this story we focus on identifying characters feelings and intentions. We will use these clues to help us analyze the text and identify the lesson the author is trying to teach us.
We will also be learning about subject-verb agreement. This means making sure the verb makes sense with who or what the subject is. Check out the poster below for an example:

This week in Math we will be starting our new unit on geometry and fractions. We will begin with learning different shapes. We will also be learning about 2D and 3D shapes, congruent and similar shapes, and fractions (halves, thirds, and fourths). If you are following along at home, this unit matches with Chapter 11 of Go! Math.
This week we will be be focusing on naming different shapes and sorting them by their characteristics (size, number of sides, vertices, etc.). We will also be introducing the difference between a polygon not a polygon.

Thanks for stopping by! Check back next week for more updates on our learning!
