WEEK B

READING:

This week in reading we will be reading the fictional story Alexander Who Used to be Rich Last Sunday by Judith Vorst. Through this story we will be focusing identifying the lesson in the story. We will use different strategies to help find the information the author wants us to know. Check out the poster below for a few examples.

**Poster credit goes to Rooted in Reading by Amy Lemons and Katie King**

We will also be learning about pronouns. A pronoun takes the place of a noun in a sentence. For example: Mr. Bernstein is the principal of the school. We can change Mr. Bernstein (a noun) to a pronoun. He is the principal of the school. Check out the poster below for another example.

We will continue reviewing digraphs as well.

MATH:

This week in Math we will wrap up our focus on telling time and shift our focus to measurements. To start with we will focus on measuring with non-standard units of measurements (such as measuring with paperclips or math cubes). This will help students get into good habits when it comes measuring the length and height of objects. We will be doing lots of hands on practice before moving onto standard units of measurements such as inches/feet and cm/meters.

Thanks for stopping by! Check back next week for more updates on our learning!
