December 17 – 21

**Tuesday, December 18th is an early release day.

**Friday, December 21st is the last day before Winter Break. School will resume on January 7th

WEEK A

READING:

This week in reading we will be reading the fictional story Blizzard by John Rocco. Through this story we will be focusing on predicting and identifying problem and solution. We will also be making connections to our own lives with the story.

We will also be learning about verb tenses this week. A verb is an action word. If something happens in the past (to show something has already happened) we usually add -ed. If something is happening in the future (to show something will happen but has not yet) we usually add “will” in front of it. Check out the poster below for a few examples!

**Poster credit goes to Rooted in Reading by Amy Lemons and Katie King**

MATH:

This week in Math we will be reviewing and testing over 2-digit and 3-digit addition/subtraction. Students will be tested over the following skills:

  • Adding 2-digit and 3-digit numbers with and without regrouping
  • Adding three 2-digit numbers together with regrouping
  • Subtracting 2-digit and 3-digit numbers with and without regrouping
  • Solve addition and subtraction story problems

Thanks for stopping by! Check back next week for more updates on our learning!

Have a great winter break!
